Wellness Plan

Hormonal Optimization

All Endocrine systems, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroids should be at the upper normal range in order for the body to function properly. This controls your energy, moods, sleep patterns, sexual drive and response; in addition to metabolism, weight control and stress management.

Physical and Pelvic Issues

After childbirth and aging, there can be multiple changes with the body, particularly the pelvic organs and pelvic support. Bleeding, pain, pressure, bladder problems, sexual discomfort are all possible problems. Most are easily corrected with hormonal therapy, medications or possible surgery.

Metabolic Plan

As we age, metabolic rates decrease significantly. By the age 30 – 40, it has decreased by 50%; by age 40 – 50, it has decreased by 75%. If you continue to eat the same, weight will increase by 5 to 10 pounds per year. A proper metabolic plan, vitamins and supplements are critical to maintain a healthy body and weight. Each plan is designed for each specific patient. Obesity is directly responsible for blood pressure problems, diabetes, increased cholesterol and heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders and joint problems.

Physical Activity

Every chronic disease is reduced with physical activity. Each person must add 10,000 steps or 3 miles of walking to their daily activities. This has a huge impact on stress, while toning muscles and providing a cardio pulmonary benefit. High impact exercise is not recommended after age 30, as it causes joint and muscle injuries.

Food Choices

All simple carbohydrates (man-made sugars ) are directly responsible for obesity, hypertension and diabetes, which all lead to cardiovascular disease. Food choices should be limited to fresh fruit, fresh meats and seafood and fresh vegetables (except corn, potatoes, beets and carrots). Meals should be 3 to 6 times per day, in small quantities. Do not skip meals! Proper choices and regular intake promote burning calories instead of storing calories, fluid retention and increase cravings.

Stress Reduction

This may be the single biggest effect on health. Stress has a significant effect on all systems of the body. It causes hormonal, metabolic and physical changes. Simplify your life to 4 priorities: yourself, your spouse, your children, and your job. Everything else is less important and you need to learn to say “no” to it. Identifying stress factors is the first step in eliminating them from your life. Then, develop a plan how to manage each of these stress factors i.e. people, family, jobs money or other obligations. Your Health is more important.
